Poetry:Homeless yet appreciative.

The homeless are seen as though they aren't there,
How they sit and sit hoping something good will happen for them,
With trembling hands and feet begging for change,
Like a cold animal or a scared friend.
If they never got a chance then it's not their fault,
But if they did get a chance no sadness is expressed,
The way they cling to things and hold them dearly,
Shows how appreciative they are of the things life gives them.

Curly's Wife

 Of Mice and Men:Curly's wife
Curly's wife is seen as a woman stuck in her marriage and trying to get out of it. She is always running around the farm and messing with every guy she can find. She is smart and catches on to things. There is no fooling her. Throughout the story the reader's view of Curly's wife really changes. She is first seen as a flirty attention seeking woman to a lonely, insecure, stuck in her marriage type of woman. She is flirty, insecure and lonely, and she wants to be a star.

Curly's wife is seen as flirty numerous times. The first time it is seen in this story is when she walks into the bunkhouse and asks George if he has seen Curly. She then states, “I was just looking around”, referring to how Lennie couldn’t help from looking at her moving her legs around. Even though she went into the bunkhouse to look for Curly, she was just making an excuse to go flirt with the new guys. From specific quotes she doesn't seem as flirty as the tone you get by reading how she does thing. The way she does things and her attitude are really what makes it stand out. Also in the story she states, “It's awfully hot out here, I bet it's cooler in the barn.” Once again she beats around the bush to get someone to come to the barn with her instead of openly asking. By asking this way it makes her seem more flirtatious.

Curly's wife just does not get the attention she wants. Throughout this whole story all she really wants is to have some friends and a social life, which she can't have living at the ranch. She states, “Aint I got the right to talk to no one?” to Lennie really sharing how lonely she is. She tells Lennie many things knowing that he doesn't understand. She also tells Lennie, “He aint a nice fella.” referring to her husband Curly. Her insecurity really falls into the same category as the loneliness she expresses and the reader can see it by how she presents herself, speaks, and her actions. Besides her attitude, she also dresses glamorous to draw attention to herself. Even living on a farm she would wear a glamorous, flowery dress. Being the only woman on the farm, she wasn't trying to out dress anyone, but just trying to bring attention to herself.

“Coulda been in the movies, an' had nice clothes-all them nice clothes like they wear. An' I coulda sat in the big hotels, an' had pitchers took of me. When they had them previews I could went to them, an' spoke in the radio, an' it wouldn'ta cost me a cent because I was in the pitcher. An' all them nice clothes like they wear. Because this guy says I was a natural.”, stated Curly's wife talking about what the actor she met told her. She goes on telling Lennie about her encounter and how she couldve made something of herself. The way she talks of how she could have been something but ended up at that ranch shows how close she was and how far away she is now. Living at the ranch really leaves her with the exact opposite of what she'd always wanted.

In conclusion, throughout the story the readers view of Curly's wife did change. She started out as a halfway annoying flirty woman to a lonely sad person. If she would not have gotten killed by Lennie, would she have persued her dream of becoming a star?

The Classic American Drink

The cracked and chipped Coca-Cola painting was once a fresh moist painting on the brick wall located by the Melba movie theater on Main Street. The base color of this painting is red with a baby blue border. The words "delicious and refreshing" are written at the bottom in yellow.  A young boy with faded blonde hair and soft features is holding a classic oversized glass of the drink. The chipped paint of the artwork brings out the very vintage and historic look.

This painting is a splendid way to reminisce the days when Main street was packed with people going to the Melba, The Landers Theater, or maybe even Elizabeths restaurant.  Now on the side of the new restaurant the Greasy Spoon, it is very easy to see the mural if you are just cruising down the street or even taking a walk on the sidewalk.  Today, Main Street is not as crowded as it used to be and  this vivid painitng is mainly only seen by cars driving by.  Although the painting is not able to display its true beauty and symblism, it will never be forgotten within the town of Batesville.

9-11 paragraph

9-11 paragraph.
My question is why someone would want to do such an act of terror.  I couldn’t really find and exact quote from the dispatch to terror agents but it basically states a bunch of things making it seem right to them.  I said because they have been taught that we are the enemies since they were children so they don’t know anything else.  So even though we think it’s wrong, they think its right.

Vocab paragraph

Today I took a car ride with my novice driving friend.  He tried to keep his palpable novice driving cladestine.  We were held in abeyance in a traffic jam.  I was obscure as to why there was one.  He was a martyr to these things so he didn’t mind.  When the beacon turned green we continued on.  We saw a plane above our heads and I made an inference that it was very aloft.  I got home shortly after and slept.

I am an enjoyable guy who likes to play guitar.
I wonder what the point of war is.
I hear a zebra barking.
I see an elephant sleeping.
I want a car.
I am an enjoyable guy who likes to play guitar.

I pretend Im Jesus.
I feel someone calling my name.
I touch your hand.
I worry about 2012.
I cry when I see an old guy at a resteraunt alone.
I am an enjoyable guy who likes to play guitar.

I understand the point of school.
I say grass is green.
I dream about very random things.
I try to be a good person.
I hope the world will change.

Chevy volt

The chevy volt is a new car which is all electric.  It starts at $37,980 and is the 2011 motor trend car of the year.  It can use gas but only is you really need to.
It will take you anywhere from the local store to long distance road trips.  Drivers and passengers are in a very safe car and shouldnt have anything to worry about.  The battery has been through very many environmental tests to see if it would harm it in any way.  The car has been programmed with three different driving features for any type of driver.  Normal mode, sport mode, and mountain mode.  That is just about all you need to know about this car and how its changing our future.
If this car becomes very widely used we wont have to rely on foreign oil and it will solve many problems.
It would stop fighting over seas and solve economy problems.
This car would also help the environment and atmosphere dramatically.  All the pollutants from regular cars arent contained in this car and it would improve our air quality very much.  Also the loud noises from other cars bother nature but the quitness of this one wouldnt.

Simple man

A song that I like and makes a lot of sense to me would be Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
This song is a fairly old song by a band thats well known.  The song was produced August 13th, 1973.  Shortly after Ronnie Van Zants grandmother and Gary Rossingtons mother died, they got together in Van Zants apartment and shared stories about their mothers.  Rossington came up with a chord progression and Van Zant made the lyrics.  The song was made in about an hour.  Even though the words say, "sit beside me, my only son" Ronnie was not the only son.  He had two older brothers and one older sister along with a younger sister.
Basically the song tells you to respect what you have and respect things in your life like family and friends.  Personally this is one of my favorite songs.  I like it because it really shows me how much I have.  It has been covered by many bands but I think I like the original the best.
The sound of the song is blues rock.  It starts off in the begginning slower but as it progresses it gets faster and more exiting.  Theres a very catchy guitar riff in the intro followed by a strong chorus.
That is all I have to say about this song.  Definantly one of my favorites.

Huck Finn

The book I just finished reading was The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.  This was a good book that had a good lesson.  Everyone is created equal.
This story begins in fictional St. Petersburg, Missouri, on the Mississippi River, sometime between 1835 and 1845.  Huck has been set under the control of the widow douglas.  But soon after his father "pap" gets full custody and they move back into the woods.  Not satisfied with his life Huck escapes from the cabin, fakes his own death, and sets off down the Mississippi River where he meets Jim.
While living quite well on the river, Huck encounters Mrs. Watsons slave Jim.  He learns that Jim is also a runaway.  Jim is trying to go to Ohio where there is freedom to buy his family some.   At first Huck debates whether or not he should tell someone about Jim running away but as they talk he realizes that he was actually a nice person.  He tells him about his hard past and Huck changes his mind about people, slavery, and life overall.
Further down the river Jim and Huck rescue two cunning grifters who join them on the raft.  After the four fugitives have drifted far enough from the town, the king takes advantage of Hucks temporary absence to sell his interest in the "escaped" slave Jim for forty dollars.  Huck gets very mad about this whole situation and decides to help free Jim.  Sadly his plan doesn't work and Jim gets recaptured.
Although he got recaptured events quickly unfold.  Jim is freed in the will of Miss Watsons death.  In the final narrative Huck says he is tired of writing his story and that he intends to flee west to Indian territory.
